SAP has been promoting Sustainable agriculture in Uganda since 1991, in the geographical areas of Nkozi, Kankobe, Bulo, Gombe, Ggoli, Nabbingo, Lweza, Nakawuka, Kisubi & Nabitalo as phased out areas and currently implementing its activities in Gayaza, Buyege, Mwererwe, Wakiso & Nansana Parishes with a total of 800 households with an overall goal of contributing to sustainable development for improved livelihood among smallholder farmers. Since then, a lot has been achieved. Achievements range from improving household food security to increased household incomes among small holder farmers. Besides, SAP has built and streamlined strong farmer institutions. All this has been achieved on behalf of Kampala Archdiocese.


  • Farmer Family Learning Group (FFLG) extension approach institutionalized among 45 small holder farmers groups to upscale sustainable agriculture practices
  • Permaculture promoted among selected 10 primary and secondary schools of Wakiso district
  • Market access promoted through value addition development approach among SHFs for increased incomes
  • Establish and enhance advocacy capacity among 24 ACSA MOs and 45 Farmer groups to advocate for sustainable organic methods at different levels to strengthen agrarian policy-related advocacy in Uganda.
  • Increased Biodiversity conservation through enhanced community managed farming systems

  • Over 5,000 HHs have been reached directly (35,000 individuals reached indirectly)
  • 80% of the target households are food secure, implying they have sufficient food both in quality and quantity.
  • 3 Primary schools have benefited from the school greening program
  • 7 products developed and 13 outlets country-wide created
  • A collection center with processing unit and mini-lab established
  • 30 individuals with established cottage industries
  • A loose coalition for SA practitioners in Uganda (ACSA) was established with 24 Member organizations under this coalition and Advocacy strategy developed
  • Engaged National policy processes relating to agriculture and marketing
  • Popularized sustainable agriculture and agrarian related policies and practices on radio
  • Conducted 3 studies on the impact of SA over 20 years, certification and state of agro inputs
  • Represent civil society on the MAAIF sector working group
  • 280,000 assorted tree species planted since 2010 in different target parishes
  • Over 5,000 students have been sensitized on environment conservation
  • 5 eco-friendly clubs have been established in 5 primary schools
  • Climate change ecological center established in Mubende district
